Once a week I meet with a group of talented business owners with a purpose to support one another.
One of the things we stress and encourage is for members to give each other feedback directly and in short order. This is what makes it possible for us to improve and make changes in real time.
I’ve done a few presentations to the group now and every time I’ve received feedback it’s been helpful and I’ve been able to implement it.
One of the things to keep in mind when you’re giving feedback whether in a setting like mine or to your kid or colleague or wife… you need to make sure it doesn’t come off like a personal judgment.
And I’d like to share with you a framework you can use.
First part is where you reference the situation. The second part is where you explain the behaviour. And the last part is the impact and that’s what gets people to internalize and take action. Hope you’ll find ways to use this framework. Have a great week everyone.
